SINGAPORE , Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) dropping 0.13 percent or 4.25 points to close at 3213.82.
A total of 1.79 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (about 826.80 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 215 to 211.
The STI index went down 0.24 percent or 7.88 points to close at 3218.07 on Wednesday.

UNITED NATIONS , May 11 (Xinhua) -- A Moroccan peacekeeper has been found dead after a convoy of UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) was attacked by armed men, said a UN spokesperson on Thursday.
On Monday, suspected anti-Balaka armed men ambushed the convoy on the Rafai-Bangassou axis in the southeast of the Central African Republic. Four Cambodian peacekeepers were killed and ten other peacekeepers were injured.
UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix will leave for the capital Bangui to attend the memorial ceremony for the five killed peacekeepers scheduled for Friday , UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told a daily briefing.
UN Security Council has condemned the attack in the strongest terms, noting that attacks against peacekeepers may constitute war crimes.
Despite significant progress and successful elections, the Central African Republic still suffers instability and sporadic unrest.
Clashes between the mainly Muslim Seleka rebel coalition and anti-Balaka militia , mostly Christian, plunged the country of 4.5 million people into civil conflict in 2013.

SEOUL , Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating fell for the fourth straight week as geopolitical risks escalated after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s nuclear and missile tests.
According to the Realmeter survey released Thursday, support for Moon came in at 65.7 percent this week, down 1.4 percentage points from the previous week.
It was based on a poll of 1 ,526 voters conducted from Monday to Wednesday. It had 2.5 percentage points in margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.
For the past four weeks, Moon's approval scores shed by 8.2 percentage points on worry about the rising geopolitical risks on the Korean Peninsula.
On Sept. 3, the DPRK detonated its sixth nuclear device , viewed as the most powerful ever conducted by the Asian country.
Days after the unanimous adoption of the UN Security Council sanctions on Pyongyang, the country flew a ballistic missile with an intermediate range over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.
Controversy was raised over South Korea's humanitarian aid to the DPRK amid growing tensions on the peninsula.
Earlier in the day, the South Korean government decided to provide 8 million U.S. dollars of aid to the DPRK through international organizations under the United Nations for pregnant women and infants in the DPRK.
Support for Moon's ruling Democratic Party gained 0.5 percentage points over the week to 49.8 percent this week , ending the four-week downward trend.
The main opposition Liberty Korea Party gained 17 percent of support, down 1.4 percentage points from the prior week.
